Green Day Song of the Week: I took a break from this last week.  I wasn’t feeling inspired.  From Green Day’s 2000 album, Warning comes the song this week, Macy’s Day Parade.  Now, I’m not sure whether or not it’s referring to the Thanksgiving Day parade, but I can’t think of any other parade it might be referring to, so as a late Happy Thanksgiving, here you go!

Green Day Song of the Week: I decided to switch it up this week.  It’s basically Green Day, but not.  This is one of my favorite songs from the first Foxboro Hottubs album, Ruby Room.  I really like the entire album, but I have a soft spot for this one.  Enjoy!

Green Day Song of the Week: Almost missed it this week!  The song this week is Governator, from the b-sides of Green Day’s epic 2004 album American Idiot.  I chose this one because election day was last week and New York has a new governor!  

Green Day Song of the Week: The song this week is King For A Day, from their 1997 album Nimrod.  Because it’s Halloween and we can all be kings (or queens) today.  Happy Halloween!

Green Day Song of the Week:  For no particular reason at all, the song this week is Letterbomb, from Green Day’s 2004 album, American Idiot.  A month or two ago, I realized that I’d forgotten how it sounded sung by Billie Joe Armstrong.   It comes on from time to time when my iPod is shuffling my Green Day songs while I’m at work.  I love how this song has been turned into a girl power song on Broadway, but I’ll always appreciate listening to the album version.  

Green Day Song of the Week - I’ve had Platypus (I Hate You) from Green Day’s 1997 album Nimrod in my head all week.  I can’t tell you why - I definitely don’t have any aggression pent up towards anyone.  I think it might be because I saw a graphic on someone’s blog a few weeks ago that was a drawing of Billie Joe Armstrong looking at a platypus and saying “I hate you!” and the platypus had a thought bubble next to it’s head with a simple “?” in it.  I’m not really sure why the song was called Platypus, but it’s funny anyways.  Enjoy!

Green Day Song of the Week: This week’s song, in honor of John Lennon’s birthday (today), is Green Day’s cover of Working Class Hero.  It’s amazing.  Happy birthday, John! 

Green Day Song of the Week: Obviously in honor of Billie Joe Armstrong’s one week stint (which is ending tonight) as St. Jimmy in American Idiot, the song this week is St. Jimmy, from (originally) their 2004 album, American Idiot, but this version is from Bullet in a Bible, which was released (I believe) in 2006 (or was it 2005?).  Enjoy!

Green Day Song of the Week:  From Green Day’s 1992 album Kerplunk comes the song No One Knows.  I find it haunting and it’s one of those songs that I could just fall asleep to.  Enjoy!

The Green Day Song of the Week this week is East Jesus Nowhere from Green Day’s 2009 album titled 21st Century Breakdown.  I adore this song and what is means.  I picked this song because this was a song that Billie Joe, when asked on Wednesday night at a post-show talk-back if there were any songs that he wanted to put into American Idiot but didn’t, he said East Jesus Nowhere was that song.  I’m not really sure where it would fit in but I love the idea of it being performed because it’s super theatrical when Billie Joe performs it during his concerts.  (Hello, he saves someone everytime!  Thank, god Green Day.)
