An Introduction to Allison

If you’re here, you’re probably wondering, “Who are you, and why should I care what you write?”  Well, I can’t tell you why you should care, but here’s a bit more on who I am:

Hello!  My name is Allison.  I’m an aspiring theatrical producer, though I’ve always written for enjoyment – poetry, blogs, plays.   I found “Make It..” after I’d lost my job and I was browsing Craigslist for ways to make money.  I decided, hey, why not and met with Sal (creator) and it took off from there.  I had linked him to my blog and he loved my writing style and the way I express myself.

I was born in sunny Southern California, raised on freezing Long Island, and moved to New York City the summer after I graduated high school in 2004 for college.   I went to Greenwich Village’s Eugene Lang College for a year before then transferring to Pace University in the Financial District.  I worked towards my degree in theatre arts and business for four years while adding internships with well-known companies such as Boneau/Bryan-Brown, Atlantic Theatre Company, The Road Company, and The Broadway League to my resume.  In any free time I had, I volunteered with freelancing producers and the nationally-known organization Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

After exploring western Europe for a month after graduating, I came back to settle down on the Upper West Side and work as a business & box office associate for a small off-Broadway theatre company.  The economy taking a turn for the worse cost me my job in January 2009.

I once was told that if you have a lot of opinions that you should be a writer.  Well, thank you to that person because you inspired me to try writing for something other than fun.  I have opinions about everything and I’m not afraid to make them known.  Here you will read all of those opinions, and probably a couple of stories about men I date (all of those men’s’ names will be changed).  Sal said to me in one of our emails, “You lead a very interesting life, I think a lot of people could relate.”

So, here I am, and welcome!
