Thankful
Truer words have never been spoken. I am very thankful I dont live in the suburbs where a “night out with the hubby at TGIF’s” is considered a major event.  Ah facebook. (via antikris)

New Favorite Chinese Place
At the same time it’s old; it’s a place that I went to on a date back in 2007.  The place is The Cottage on 77th and Amsterdam.  I remembered two things about this place: it was cheap and free wine came with your meal.  I didn’t remember whether the food OR the wine was any good, but I figured why the hell not and when my best friend and I made plans for dinner, I suggested...

One of the Mean Girls
I remember getting in a fight in fourth grade with the Mean Girls.  That was a losing battle.  I guess because I didn’t really care that much.  Never once was I pegged as one of them though… until yesterday morning. I received an email from a woman who reads my blog (apparently, who knew people actually read this thing?).  I won’t post her email here because she hasn’t...

Tiny Changes
During my massage on Wednesday night, I made a cut-throat (alright, that’s a lie) decision that yes, that I was going to cancel two of my three services with Time Warner Cable.  Goodbye, cable internet (I steal wireless from some good-hearted soul in my building) and land-line! (I had this in case my phone should ever die, as these things so often do.. and my doorman has a phone downstairs,...

Brownies and Cookies.
On Friday night I received a series of emails to my work email address regarding one co-worker whose [adorable] nieces are selling Girl Scout Cookies and she was now seeing if anyone in the office wanted to buy a few boxes. Out of the dozen emails they went like this: A: The floor will take 5 boxes! B: What kinds? My boss: Are you sure you want to reveal your cookie preferences to the world,...

So that happened.
Remember a couple of weeks ago when I posted that I didn’t want to talk about it with my friends?  Well, I was inspired by Jamie Leigh’s recent post of the fact that these blogs are records of our lives and I decided I did want to write it down.  Not for feed back or sympathy, or even out of spite (there will be no names named here).  I want to write it down so I never forget and I...

Hopping on the bandwagon, or not.
When I was still an undergrad, I had grand plans.  During my senior year, I was going to apply to Columbia University to their Theatre Producing/Management MFA program and then rule the theatre world.  Well, obviously, that hasn’t happened.. at least not yet. After I graduated, I was so unbelievably happy to be out of school.  I’ve never been the scholastically enthusiastic type.  I...

Stubborn online daters.
When you message me multiple times and I still don’t answer, there’s a subtle hint there.  I got a message from someone just now saying, “Hey I sent you a message about a month ago, and I think you may have forgotten to respond…” No, I didn’t forget, you putz.  I just didn’t want to.

Dating Patterns
So, after a chat with a friend yesterday, I realized that the guys I’ve dated (and have pondered dating) have had secret problems and qualms. One was a recovering coke addict (I didn’t know that when I met him, awesome); One hadn’t an intellectual thought in his head (I’m trying to remember if ever actually talked about anything substantial); One thought it was completely...

A whole lot of Nothing.
Nothing.  It’s the first step in the ten steps of The Joy Diet, by Martha Beck, which I just started reading after being told to read it by my cousin over a year ago.  She says take at least 15 minutes a day to do absolutely nothing. Beck talks about how it’s ingrained in our culture to always be doing something, always pushing onwards and upwards!  I definitely feel that, all of the...

Myself vs. I
I’ve been told many, many times over the past couple of weeks to focus on myself.  Be selfish.  Be very selfish.  On the same token, I was told on NYE that I was too selfish.  So which is it?  I’m still trying to figure this out. I find myself saying the word “I” a lot.  Someone, a friend, will tell me a story, and I’ll come back at them, though trying to help,...

Mallory is quite good at advice.  She said this to me in an email on New Years Day and I’ve been trying to figure out the answers to these questions. Where am I: I live in the city that I’ve wanted to live in since I was 11.  I’m living well, paying all of my own bills (save for my cell phone).  I’m working in a job that I don’t love (it’s in a field that I...

Screw you and your pricing, Time Warner Cable.
So, I saw that my bill went up from $105 to $119 this month.  I have the triple play package - phone (you know, should my cell ever die), internet (even though I steal wireless from other tenants in my building), and basic-ish cable. I found out today that if I cancel my cable, but keep the phone and internet that’ll end up costing me $112. If I cancel the phone and internet, I’ll...

I bowled last night.
I think the last time I bowled was in high school when my younger brother (who’s about 10 years younger than me) beat me.  That’s how bad I am. I was at Melody Lanes in Park Slope, Brooklyn (maybe it was Sunset Park?) last night and was forced into playing.  After a few beers, I was a bit tipsy and was probably worse than usual.  Friends kept trying to give me advice but I could never...

A happy new year.
So after much drama and upset, it’s finally becoming a happy new year.  I spent a lot of time this week reconnecting with my girlfriends (old and new), and a new group that will now be referred to as The Girls. Those girls are Mallory and Amy.  I’ve known Mallory since we had Art of Film together during the first semester of our senior year of college; and Amy and I just met very...

peterandwendy asked: I dunno if you've ever answered these on the blog, but here goes:

When did your love for theatre begin?
Have you ever acted in or worked on any plays?
Have you ever had any aspirations of acting in theatre?

Cleaning Out My Closet
Or at least a few boxes of random shit that I have around my apartment.  In one box I found a handful of blue post-its.  I remember being given these at the beginning of my freshmen year of at the Eugene Lang (I transferred the year after to Pace U) from a friend of a friend.  She wrote down places that I need to go and eat.  I never went to any of the places, but are any of them still very good? ...

A lot of living to do... but not at Bye Bye...
I ushered for this show on New Years Day night and my conclusion: If you’re looking to do a lot of living, skip this show.  The production is fine, the sets are very creative and colorful, the numbers are lively.  John Stamos as Albert is charming, though his voice is a little thin (which is the problem with most of the cast to be honest).  Matt Doyle was a favorite of mine as the...

I didn’t really want to write this post, I didn’t feel inspired but let’s see what I can do on New Years Day at 8:40am. January : I got let go from my first job as a result of the economy.  I get a new job a week later.  This job sucks.  I go many more [first] dates than is normal.  There was nothing else noteable about January.  Oh yeah, I transferred my blog to Tumblr. ...
